Schaffer Brothers Band Releases Debut Album Old Thing New

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — The Schaffer Brothers Band, a four-piece roots band from Grand Junction, Colorado, has released its debut album, Old Thing New, a collection of songs that brings together the band's influences in funk, country, blues, roots rock, and R&B.

Formed by brothers Tyler and Kyle Schaffer in late 2024 as a weekend project, the band has quickly grown into a fixture of Western Colorado's live music scene, building a following through local bars, venues, and regional festivals.

The band's self-produced eight-song debut reflects the brothers' musical influences both old and new. Recorded at Killion Sound in Los Angeles, a studio known for its work in modern R&B and funk, the record was tracked live-to-tape over three days by Tyler Schaffer (guitar, lead vocals), Kyle Schaffer (piano, organ), Sage Vickers (drums), and Everitt Merritt (bass).

Rather than settling into a single genre, Old Thing New moves between country and funk, roots rock and R&B. The result is a record built around the band's songwriting and the chemistry of four musicians playing together in the room.

To mark the release, the band has also put up a billboard in Grand Junction promoting the album. A fitting hometown marker for a record that was made several hundred miles away in Los Angeles.

The Schaffer Brothers Band will celebrate the release with a full-length show at the Palisade Livery Saloon on August 29.
